We first saw H's face on September 24, and by the 28th I was already hooked on buying clothes for him :)
I've never been a huge fan of thrift stores. I'm not patient...don't like dirt....and finding clothes that fit me is hard enough to do at the mall, let alone at a thrift store. Not a good combination!
However, after getting what I thought was a great deal - $7 or so - 2T Nike running pants for H, for example, I found similar running pants - clean, in good condition, not nasty-looking - for .99 at a thrift store. And I was hooked.
Thanks to lots of shopping (in 3 states!) and a few hand-me-downs, H now has lots and lots of clothes! For the most part, I've only bought brands I would usually buy - Nike, Old Navy, Gymboree, Baby Gap, Carter's, The Children's Place, OshKosh, etc. Nice clothes....for great prices.
Our house had been taken over by baby clothes and I needed to bring order to the chaos :) Shown in this picture are mostly 24mo-4T clothes. Everything is now packed away according to size.
Shopping has been great therapy for me - an easy "up" when I was feeling down. Not expensive. And better than drowning my sorrows in chocolate :)
I so enjoy shopping for clothes for the boys! My retail therapy comes twice a year at a consignment sale. You should totally look into whether or not there are any of those near you! They are usually seasonal.
ReplyDeleteWe tried a consignment sale, or something similar to that, and the selection for boys wasn't great...and the prices weren't great either :( I'm curious what you find...and if the prices compare to what I find at thrift stores here. For the most part, I pay .99/item.
DeleteI usually pay around $5/outfit, $2-3 for pants, $1-2 for shirts. Ours is "The Upscale Weesale." They only take brand names & they check the quality of everything. They also have a ton of baby/kid gear and toys. I buy all of the Birthday & Christmas presents at it too! This year I'm hoping to find Shawn a cozy coupe for outside play! :D
DeleteI think I've seen you mention that on FB! I'll have to keep my "eyes peeled" (haha - what a phrase!) for one :)
DeleteOooh, a cozy coupe! We're on the lookout for one of those as well! Some day!
