Add to that the fact that my body tends to go a bit crazy when I don't eat enough, and K and I both know I'm probably going to be in trouble in C*. Yes, we'll probably have "western" breakfast buffets and access to familiar food, but I'm still picky....and not a fan of the golden arches or K. Fried Chkn....and I want to be prepared!
During Christmas Break, we went to Trader Joe's (oh how I love that store and wish we had one nearby instead of 3ish hours away!) and decided to see if we could come up with any suitable options for sustenance. And we found some!
I'm not going to claim that what we bought is the healthiest stuff out there. BUT it does have some nutritional content....some vitamins, calories, and protein. I plan to add to this - "to go" things of PB, some beef jerky, and perhaps a few other things. And hopefully between those things and vegetarian noodles and rice and dumplings, I'll lose just a bit of weight and not be a grouch because of low blood sugar :)
So, I don't know how picky you are...but when we went to ET, someone gave us the idea of tuna packets. If you like tuna, you can get packets that include the tuna, mayo, and relish then mix it to your own liking and it comes with crackers. The package itself is light in weight, which works great for your luggage, and when you are hungry, they taste pretty good! Just a thought! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm picky :) No tuna. But I would eat chicken in packets like that...if I was really hungry; thanks for the idea!!
DeleteOh, funny! The cheesecake cracked me up.
ReplyDeleteYes, the smells of China alone will curb your appetite. The breakfast buffet will be your friend. :) Would you be game to try Pizza Hut? that saved me, but yes, I lost weight.
I have a feeling you will have some great stories about your travel to China.
True, no? Cheese...cake....ewww. They don't go together! They just don't.
DeleteYes, the smells. We "practiced" in Chinatown this summer and I even struggled with that. And we were there for just a short time :) I'll survive.
Yes! I am very game to try Pizza Hut! I've heard from you and others that it's different from here...but here or there, I think Pizza Hut will work :)
Can't wait for the stories. Hopefully they will be ones we can laugh about at the time and later. Not really thrilled about the stories that take years to laugh about...haha...but am expecting some of those as well!
